Joachim studied electrical engineering at the technical Universities of Berlin and Munich and specialized in communications technology. After completing his degree he worked in the chemical industry in a department for measurement and control technology. He qualified as a patent attorney in 1967.
In 1970 Joachim established his own firm together with his colleague Friedrich Helber, from which Zenz, Helber Hosbach & Partner evolved, with offices in Essen and Zwingenberg.
Joachim specializes in trademark and domain name law. He has wide experience of appearing before courts of all instances, including the Federal Court of Justice and the European Court of Justice.
Joachim retired from the day to day business of the firm in 2007 and since then has remained as an advisor to the firm.
